Eichel’s Hot Streak Sets Stage for Golden Knights’ Clash with Avalanche
The Vegas Golden Knights are back home and ready to light up the ice for a special Nevada Day matchup against the Colorado Avalanche — and all eyes are on Jack Eichel. After wrapping up a tough Southern road trip where they collected three points in three games, the Knights open a six-game homestand with plenty of confidence and one of the league’s most in-form players leading the charge.
Eichel has been on a tear to start the 2025–26 season. With 19 points in just 10 games — eight goals and 11 assists — the Vegas center has catapulted himself right into early MVP conversations. He even turned his 29th birthday into a highlight reel earlier this week, scoring twice and adding an assist in a 6–3 win over the Carolina Hurricanes. It was a classic Eichel performance: fast, clinical, and full of energy. He broke a 3–3 tie with a breakaway goal late in the third period, followed that up with a one-timer just a couple of minutes later, and helped Vegas finish off the Hurricanes with a dominant four-goal final frame.

“It was nice to get a win on the birthday and get out of here with two points,” Eichel said after the game. “It was a great win for us.”
The Golden Knights had dropped their first two games of the road swing — a 3–0 loss to defending champions Florida and a tight 2–1 overtime defeat to Tampa Bay — but their captain’s leadership and scoring touch brought the spark they needed. Eichel credited his teammates for making his start so successful, calling it “a credit to the whole group,” as he highlighted the chemistry on and off the puck.
Vegas will be counting on that same energy when they face the Avalanche, who are also coming off a statement win of their own. Colorado snapped a four-game skid with an explosive 8–4 victory over the New Jersey Devils. Nathan MacKinnon, always a force, scored twice and added an assist — marking his 100th career three-point game — while defenseman Cale Makar recorded four assists. Former Knight Victor Olofsson stole some headlines too, notching his first career hat trick and two assists in the rout.
Avalanche coach Jared Bednar praised his team’s response, saying, “Wins are hard to get in this league, and we did a lot of really good things.”
The Avs have only one regulation loss in 11 games this season, while Vegas remains just as tough to beat. With Eichel in MVP form and MacKinnon heating up again, this Nevada Day clash isn’t just another regular-season game — it’s shaping up to be one of the most exciting matchups of the early NHL season. Both teams know that momentum is everything, and on Friday afternoon in Las Vegas, it’s about to come down to who can keep the ice blazing hotter.
