Hakimi’s Double Fires PSG Back to the Top with Commanding Win at Brest

Paris Saint-Germain have reclaimed the top spot in Ligue 1 after cruising to a 3-0 victory over Brest, led by an inspired performance from Achraf Hakimi, who scored twice in the first half. The win reflected PSG’s dominance from start to finish and offered a strong response to recent questions about their consistency.

The match, played at the Stade Francis-Le Blé, saw PSG take control early, with Hakimi opening the scoring in the 29th minute. The Moroccan full-back timed his run perfectly to meet a lofted pass from Vitinha, slotting the ball neatly past Brest’s goalkeeper Majecki. Ten minutes later, Hakimi doubled his tally — and PSG’s advantage — with a composed finish from a tight angle inside the box, after being set up by Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.

By half-time, the visitors already looked in complete command, dominating possession with nearly 75% of the ball and piling relentless pressure on Brest’s defense. The home side, however, had a rare chance to get back into the game early in the second half when a handball decision went their way after a VAR review. Yet, Romain Del Castillo’s penalty flew over the bar, leaving Brest’s hopes deflated.

From there, PSG managed the game with maturity and patience. Luis Enrique’s side showed fluidity in attack and discipline in defense — a combination that’s becoming a trademark under the Spanish coach. Ousmane Dembélé, returning from a hamstring injury, was introduced in the second half and nearly made it a dream comeback, but his shot from the edge of the area sailed just over the crossbar.

Brest kept pushing for a consolation goal, but PSG’s backline held firm, led by Hakimi and the impressive Lucas Hernández. In stoppage time, young midfielder Warren Zaïre-Emery sparked one final counterattack, slipping the ball to substitute Désiré Doué, who made no mistake — firing into the bottom corner to make it 3-0 with the last kick of the game.

With this result, PSG move two points clear at the top of Ligue 1, though they’ve played one more game than second-placed Marseille. The Parisians have now extended their unbeaten run in all competitions and continue to look sharp both domestically and in Europe.

Luis Enrique’s men will look to carry this momentum forward when they face Lorient next Wednesday, while Brest remain in 12th place, searching for a spark to reignite their campaign. For PSG fans, though, the night belonged to Achraf Hakimi — a reminder of his class, composure, and influence in this star-studded team.
