Roma Ready for Parma Clash as Pellegrini and Rensch Return
Roma are set for another crucial midweek test as they take on Parma at the Stadio Olimpico this Wednesday evening. The match, scheduled for October 29 at 6:30 PM local time, comes right before a massive encounter against AC Milan on November 2nd — but manager Gian Piero Gasperini doesn’t seem interested in taking his foot off the gas.
Despite the tight schedule, Gasperini is expected to field a strong lineup once again. Team captain Lorenzo Pellegrini, who has been instrumental in Roma’s midfield this season, is likely to start. Devyne Rensch could also make his return on the wing, giving the Giallorossi some added versatility down the flanks. Angelino, however, remains unavailable due to injury, which means Roma will have to make some adjustments at the back.

For Roma, maintaining momentum is key. They currently sit in good form defensively — in fact, they’ve conceded only three goals this season, making them the top defensive side in Serie A. On the attacking end, the team has managed eight goals in eight matches, ranking mid-table in scoring but showing steady improvement as players like Dybala and Pellegrini find rhythm. Gasperini is reportedly planning to use Dybala in a “false nine” role again, hoping to exploit Parma’s back line with quick interchanges and creative movement up front.
Parma, meanwhile, enter this fixture looking to regain their scoring touch. They currently rank 20th in the league for goals scored, managing just three in total — an average of 0.4 per game. Their last outing against Como 1907 ended in a goalless draw, even though Parma managed nine shots and dominated much of the possession. Patrick Cutrone, their leading forward, will once again be central to Parma’s attack. While his odds to score against Roma sit at +475, he’s had a slow start this season with just one goal in Serie A so far.
Statistically, Roma appear to have the upper hand — they’re sixth in the league for goal differential at +5, compared to Parma’s -4. But as always in football, numbers only tell part of the story. Parma have shown resilience on defense, conceding only seven goals across eight games, and they’ll aim to frustrate Roma’s forwards at the Olimpico.
With both teams eager to make a statement — Roma to strengthen their top-half position and Parma to climb out of the lower ranks — the midweek matchup promises intensity. Fans can expect a tactical game, where Gasperini’s side will look to dominate possession and Parma will try to capitalize on counter-attacks.
It’s shaping up to be a fascinating clash under the Roman lights — a battle of discipline versus determination, where every goal and every point counts.
