Calvin Ridley and Titans Stars Set to Return Against Texans
The Tennessee Titans are finally getting some much-needed reinforcements as they prepare to face the Houston Texans this Sunday at Nissan Stadium. Three of their most notable players—Calvin Ridley, Jeffery Simmons, and Arden Key—are officially active, returning from injury just in time for the game. This is particularly significant for a Titans team that has struggled to find consistency, currently sitting at 1-8 on the season.
Calvin Ridley, who has been sidelined since Week 6 with a hamstring injury, is expected to make his return and provide a boost to the Titans' passing game. Alongside him, defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons, who hasn’t played since Week 7 due to a hamstring injury, will also be back on the field. Simmons and Ridley are among the Titans’ highest-paid players, making their return even more crucial. Arden Key, returning from a quadriceps injury that kept him out since Week 5, will help strengthen the pass rush, although rotational snaps for younger players like Jaylen Harrell and Truman Jones may be slightly reduced.

While the Titans get some good news, safety Xavier Woods will be out with a hamstring injury, giving rookie Kevin Winston Jr. more opportunities to step up. In addition, the Titans elevated safety Mike Brown from injured reserve for the game, marking his first action in over a month. Brown made a heartfelt tribute by wearing a jersey in memory of his late cousin, Marshawn Kneeland, who tragically passed away earlier this month.
On the Houston Texans side, quarterback C.J. Stroud will be sidelined as he goes through concussion protocols, meaning Davis Mills will start in his place. Mills led the Texans to a victory last week, showing he can handle the pressure, but the Titans’ returning stars will be looking to make an impact defensively.
During Thursday’s practice, Ridley and Simmons participated on a limited basis, showing that they’re eager to return to the field. Simmons expressed his excitement, saying it felt great just to move around with the team after weeks of being sidelined. Key also practiced, posting strong stats before his injury, including 1.5 sacks in five games, and his return is expected to bolster Tennessee’s defensive front.
This game marks an important opportunity for the Titans not just to add wins to their record but to see how their veteran players reintegrate into the lineup. With Ridley, Simmons, and Key back in action, fans can expect a much more competitive Tennessee team taking the field against the Texans this Sunday.
