Chelsea Soar Past Wolves with Gusto’s First Goal Lighting the Way
Chelsea secured a confident 3-0 victory over Wolves in their latest Premier League clash, sending the Blues into the international break on a high note. The win was highlighted by Malo Gusto’s first goal for the club, a moment he described as “only the beginning” of what he hopes will be a prolific spell in front of goal. After 98 appearances, the full-back finally broke his scoring duck, heading home Alejandro Garnacho’s precise cross and igniting celebrations among the Chelsea faithful in the Matthew Harding Lower.
The first half was tough for Chelsea, with Wolves defending resolutely and space between the lines proving difficult to find. But after the interval, Chelsea came alive. Gusto’s opener not only broke the deadlock but also provided the impetus the team needed. Joao Pedro then doubled the advantage, scoring his second goal in as many games, showing his consistency and finishing prowess. To cap off the evening, Pedro Neto sealed the win with a composed tap-in from close range, ensuring the Blues fans left Stamford Bridge satisfied.

Speaking after the game, Gusto expressed his delight at opening his scoring account. “It’s been a long time since I came here, and this is only the beginning,” he said. “I’m very proud. I’ve been waiting for this one! I’m very happy for me, my family and the fans.” He also emphasized the importance of the victory in building momentum before the international break, noting that the team’s top-four ambitions remain firmly in focus.
The full-back admitted the team had struggled initially but praised the half-time adjustments. “In the first half, we struggled a lot to find space between the lines, but in the second half we were much better. The manager said at half-time to be patient, the chance will arrive, and we found our players much easier, and I think that’s how we scored the first goal.”
Chelsea’s win moves them up to second in the Premier League standings, a position they will look to consolidate in the coming fixtures. With victories over Tottenham and Wolves now behind them, the Blues are keen to carry this momentum forward, particularly in the lead-up to their next match against Burnley at Turf Moor. Gusto’s breakthrough goal symbolizes more than just personal success—it reflects a team that is finding rhythm, cohesion, and belief as they push toward the top of the table.
This performance reinforced Chelsea’s attacking depth, the importance of patience, and how collective effort can turn the tide in challenging matches. Wolves may have offered stiff resistance early on, but Chelsea’s adaptability and finishing quality ensured a commanding result that will be remembered as Gusto’s landmark night.
