DeMarcus Lawrence Sparks Seahawks’ Rout with Two Defensive Touchdowns
What a performance by the Seattle Seahawks — and what a night for DeMarcus Lawrence! The veteran defensive end turned back the clock with not one, but two defensive touchdowns , leading the Seahawks to a dominant 44–22 win over the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday.
Seattle came out firing right from the opening drive. Quarterback Sam Darnold rolled to his left and connected with Jaxon Smith-Njigba for a beautiful 43-yard touchdown. That early strike set the tone for what would quickly turn into a one-sided affair. The Cardinals, who entered the game struggling for consistency, were immediately under pressure — and Seattle’s defense smelled blood.
On Arizona’s very first possession, rookie linebacker Tyrice Knight burst through the line and slammed into Jacoby Brissett, jarring the ball loose. And waiting for it was DeMarcus Lawrence. The ball bounced perfectly into his hands, and the 33-year-old took it all the way — 34 yards — for his first touchdown of the game. The crowd at Lumen Field erupted.

But the Seahawks weren’t done yet. After a 9-yard rushing score by George Holani, Seattle had already tied its franchise record with 21 first-quarter points , a mark that hadn’t been matched since 2012. Then came Lawrence’s second act.
Early in the second quarter, the same combination struck again — Knight with the hit, Brissett with the fumble, and Lawrence right there to scoop it up. This time, he ran it back 22 yards for another touchdown. Two defensive touchdowns in one half — a rare feat achieved by only a handful of players in NFL history. Lawrence became just the sixth player since 1991 to pull it off, doubling his career touchdown total in a single game.
By halftime, Seattle led 38–7 — their highest-scoring half of the season . The defense finished the night with five sacks and relentless pressure on Brissett, who struggled to get the Cardinals’ offense moving. Meanwhile, Zach Charbonnet added a rushing touchdown, and kicker Jason Myers tacked on three field goals to seal the emphatic win.
For the Seahawks, this victory was not only decisive but also historic — marking their ninth straight win over the Cardinals since 2021. With this, Seattle improved to 7–2 on the season and strengthened their hold atop the NFC West.
Even though Darnold attempted just 12 passes, completing 10 for 178 yards and a touchdown, it didn’t matter — because Seattle’s defense stole the show. Smith-Njigba led all receivers with six catches for 93 yards, continuing his impressive run as the NFL’s leader in receiving yards.
As for DeMarcus Lawrence, this was a reminder that experience still counts. Once a star with the Dallas Cowboys, he’s proving he can still make game-changing plays — now in Seahawks blue and green. And after Sunday’s incredible performance, one thing is clear: Seattle’s defense is not just good — it’s elite .
