Dodgers Stay Alive with Dramatic Game 6 Win Over Blue Jays

What a night of baseball it was! The Los Angeles Dodgers have forced a Game 7 in the World Series after grinding out a 3–1 victory over the Toronto Blue Jays at Rogers Centre. It was one of those intense, edge-of-your-seat games that had every fan holding their breath until the final out.

After dropping two games in a row at home, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts decided to shake things up. And that adjustment paid off. It took a while for the Dodgers’ bats to wake up — not until the third inning, in fact — but once they did, they struck hard. Will Smith got things going with a run batted in, and shortly after, Mookie Betts delivered a key single that brought Smith home, putting the Dodgers up 3–0.

Toronto managed to claw one back thanks to a sharp line drive from George Springer, but that was all they could manage. Dodgers starter Yoshinobu Yamamoto was locked in, pitching six strong innings while giving up just one run and scattering five hits. From there, the bullpen took over and held firm.

But this game wasn’t short on controversy. In the bottom of the ninth, the Blue Jays were poised for a dramatic comeback. Alejandro Kirk got hit by a pitch and was replaced by speedy pinch-runner Myles Straw. Then came a deep shot from Addison Barger — the kind of hit that could have tied the game. But the ball wedged under the outfield wall, leading to a ground-rule double call. Instead of runners scoring, they were placed on second and third, and the Jays’ hopes were clipped. Toronto challenged the call, arguing the fielder could’ve played it, but after a video review, the ruling stood. Moments later, a double play ended the game, and the Dodgers celebrated a hard-fought win.

Pitching was top-notch on both sides. Toronto’s Kevin Gausman was nearly flawless apart from that rough third inning. He retired the first seven and last ten Dodgers he faced, but the damage done in between proved costly.

Now, all eyes turn to Saturday night for the deciding Game 7 — one game to decide it all. For the Blue Jays, veteran Max Scherzer is expected to start. It’ll be his second career Game 7 start after his 2019 World Series heroics with the Nationals. Meanwhile, for the Dodgers, Shohei Ohtani could take the mound despite just three days of rest.

Both teams are throwing everything they have left into this final showdown. The Dodgers, loaded with stars like Betts, Freeman, and Ohtani, are chasing back-to-back titles — something not seen in MLB since 2000. The Blue Jays, on the other hand, are fighting for their first championship in over 30 years.

It’s all on the line now — one more night, one more game, and one team will walk away as World Series champions.
