Escape From Tarkov Finally Reaches 1.0—Here’s What You Need to Know

It’s been a long road for Escape From Tarkov, and honestly, it feels surreal to finally say this: the game is officially stepping out of its eight-year beta and launching version 1.0. Battlestate Games has confirmed the release, and everything is gearing up for a huge moment in the game’s history. So let me walk you through what’s happening, what to expect, and why the community is buzzing right now.

First off, the launch happens on November 15, and the release will roll out globally at the same time. The servers were intentionally taken offline for at least 24 hours starting November 14 to deploy the massive 1.0 patch. Both Escape From Tarkov and its companion title, Escape From Tarkov Arena, were included in this downtime. It was expected to last a full day, although veteran players know these big updates sometimes stretch longer. The goal is simple, though: get the patch fully ready so the game can emerge from beta in the smoothest way possible.

When the servers reopen, Tarkov won’t just return—it will return transformed. Story mode is finally being introduced, giving players a structured questline that leads into the long-awaited endgame path to actually escape Tarkov. PvP mode will undergo a complete wipe, while PvE players will get the choice to wipe or keep their progress. Arena will also see a partial wipe. It’s genuinely one of the biggest overhauls the game has ever seen.

Another huge moment is that Tarkov is launching on Steam for the very first time. Players will be able to buy and play it there, although existing owners should note that the game must be purchased again if they want the Steam version’s integrations. Even then, it will still require a Battlestate account. Pre-purchase and pre-loading are already available, and Steam players are also getting a 25% launch discount.

Because the release is such a major milestone, a special TarkovTV live event is scheduled to air just before launch. It’s set for November 15 and is expected to showcase previously unseen features, provide last-minute details, and build even more excitement before the servers reopen.

Yes, the downtime may feel frustrating, especially with a full day of unplayable servers. But considering this update marks the official launch of Escape From Tarkov—something the community has waited years for—the anticipation is part of the experience. The game is about to enter a new chapter, and fans across the world are counting down the final hours together.
