Golden Knights and Mammoth Gear Up for Tonight’s Clash
Tonight, the Vegas Golden Knights are set to face off against the Utah Mammoth in what promises to be an intense matchup. The puck drops at 9 p.m. Eastern Time, and both teams are expected to bring competitive lineups to the ice.
For the Golden Knights, the lineup mirrors the one that took the ice in their recent 4-3 overtime loss against the Anaheim Ducks. Up front, Ivan Barbashev will center Jack Eichel and Braeden Bowman, while Pavel Dorofeyev, Tomas Hertl, and Mitch Marner form the second line. Brandon Saad, Brett Howden, and Reilly Smith round out the third line, with Cole Reinhardt, Colton Sissons, and Keegan Kolesar on the fourth.
On defense, Brayden McNabb and Shea Theodore will pair up, with Noah Hanifin teaming with Zach Whitecloud. Ben Hutton and Kaedan Korczak complete the defensive corps, and in goal, Akira Schmid is expected to start, backed up by Carl Lindbom. The Golden Knights will be without Alexander Holtz, who has been scratched, and several key players remain sidelined due to injury, including Adin Hill, William Karlsson, Jeremy Lauzon, and Mark Stone.

The Mammoth are expected to feature Clayton Keller, Barrett Hayton, and Nick Schmaltz on their top line. Kailer Yamamoto is set to play on the second line alongside Logan Cooley and Dylan Guenther, switching positions with Michael Carcone, who moves down to the third line with Kevin Stenlund and Brandon Tanev. JJ Peterka, Jack McBain, and Lawson Crouse will anchor the fourth line.
Utah’s defensive pairings include Mikhail Sergachev and Nick DeSimone, Nate Schmidt and John Marino, and Ian Cole alongside Dmitri Simashev. Between the pipes, Karel Vejmelka and Vitek Vanecek are expected to share goaltending duties. The Mammoth will be without Olli Maatta and Liam O’Brien, while Sean Durzi and Alex Kerfoot remain injured.
A few strategic moves have been noted: Yamamoto is expected to make an impact on the second line for the Mammoth, and forward Kevin Rooney was recently assigned to Tucson of the American Hockey League, signaling some roster adjustments.
Both teams are hungry for a win tonight. The Golden Knights will look to rebound after their close overtime loss, while the Mammoth aim to build on their momentum from recent victories. Fans can expect fast-paced action, skilled plays, and the usual NHL intensity as these two teams battle it out on the ice in Utah.
The stage is set, the lineups are confirmed, and puck drop is imminent. This is one matchup that hockey fans won’t want to miss.
