Gonzaga Blows Out Creighton with Dominant Second-Half Run

Last night in Spokane, the No. 19 Gonzaga Bulldogs showcased why they are considered one of the top teams in college basketball this season, delivering a commanding 90-63 victory over No. 23 Creighton. The game was tightly contested in the first half, but once the second half began, Gonzaga completely took over. Graham Ike led the charge with an impressive 20 points and 10 rebounds, putting the Bulldogs in control and keeping Creighton on its heels.

The Bulldogs, now 3-0 on the season, got contributions from across the board. Braden Huff scored 14 points, while Mario Saint-Supery added 13 off the bench. Gonzaga erupted for a 21-0 run in the second half, a surge that effectively sealed the win and tied the all-time series with Creighton at six wins apiece. The Bulldogs outscored the Bluejays 46-25 after halftime, dominating both ends of the court and turning a six-point halftime lead into a blowout.

Creighton struggled to keep pace, shooting just 28% in the second half after hitting 46% in the opening period. The Bluejays were hampered by 18 turnovers, and key players like Owen Freeman, coming off offseason knee surgery, had quiet performances, scoring only two points in limited minutes. Despite a few early threes keeping Creighton within reach, the Bluejays could not match Gonzaga’s intensity once the Bulldogs found their rhythm.

Ike’s shooting sparked Gonzaga from the start. He hit back-to-back threes to put the Bulldogs ahead 11-7 and later added another to finish the first half with 13 points. Adam Miller, the Arizona State transfer, provided a spark late in the first half, scoring six points in just a couple of minutes to help extend the lead. Emmanuel Innocenti’s three-pointer carried Gonzaga into halftime with a 44-38 advantage.

After the break, Ike continued his hot shooting, scoring inside on jumpers and hitting another three-pointer to ignite the 21-0 run, which included a three from Saint-Supery. The Bulldogs led by more than 20 points for the final 11 minutes, effectively putting the game out of reach.

Looking ahead, Gonzaga will travel to Arizona State on Friday, while Creighton will host Maryland Eastern Shore. With this win, Gonzaga’s second-half dominance has been clearly established, showing that when they click, they are a force that few teams in the nation can withstand. The Bulldogs’ depth, sharpshooting, and defensive pressure were all on display, leaving no doubt that they are firing on all cylinders early in the season.

This game will likely be remembered for Gonzaga’s relentless second-half run and Graham Ike’s standout performance, which set the tone for the blowout and underscored the Bulldogs’ championship potential.
