Halloween Thrills and Hockey Firepower Collide at Bell Centre
It’s shaping up to be a spooky and exciting Saturday night in Montreal as the Canadiens get set to face off against the Ottawa Senators at the Bell Centre. Even though Halloween officially wrapped up, the festivities are far from over — the arena is decked out for one last round of fright-filled fun, and fans are in for a treat both on and off the ice.
The Canadiens are returning home on a high note after a strong western road trip that brought in six of a possible eight points. That run through Calgary, Edmonton, Vancouver, and Seattle — typically a tough stretch for any team — showed just how far this young Montreal squad has come under coach Martin St. Louis. Now tied for first place in the Atlantic Division with 16 points, the Habs have been proving that their rebuild is turning into real progress.

Tonight’s matchup against the Senators should be another test of that momentum. Ottawa arrives in Montreal after a 4–3 shootout win over the Flames and is looking to turn things around on the road — where victories have been harder to come by. The Sens’ offense has been clicking despite the absence of captain Brady Tkachuk, who’s sidelined with a thumb injury. Tim Stützle and Drake Batherson have been leading the charge offensively, keeping Ottawa dangerous on the power play.
For the Canadiens, Cole Caufield continues to be the man to watch. He’s tied for the league lead in goals with nine and recently set a franchise record for overtime winners. Meanwhile, captain Nick Suzuki remains a steady force at center, leading the team in assists and plus-minus rating. Between the pipes, Samuel Montembeault gets the start tonight. After a rough stretch of recent games, he’ll be looking to regain his early-season form and give Montreal a chance to extend their winning streak.
But the night’s not just about hockey. The Bell Centre will be buzzing with Halloween-themed entertainment from 5 to 7 p.m. — including trick-or-treat stations, a haunted house, and even a costume contest where one lucky fan will walk away with a $500 Tricolore Sports gift card. Former Canadiens Rick Green and Stephan Lebeau are also set to meet fans, and one spectator will even get a chance to shoot for season tickets during the intermission.
Fans are being reminded to plan their commute carefully, though — the ongoing STM strike means no metro or bus service will be available.
With both teams bringing plenty of offensive firepower and a festive Bell Centre atmosphere, this matchup promises to be more than just a game — it’s a full-blown Halloween encore, where goals, ghosts, and good times are all on the menu.
