Hampshire Neighbours Celebrate Postcode Lottery Wins
It’s been a lucky month for several communities across Hampshire, where residents saw their postcodes drawn in the October 2025 People’s Postcode Lottery. From Basingstoke to Portsmouth, and from Fareham to Hordle, a wave of £1,000 prizes has brought some well-timed cheer to households across the county.
The People’s Postcode Lottery, as many know, isn’t your typical lottery. It’s a subscription-based game where players sign up using their postcode and pay a monthly fee. Every day, new winners are announced from different corners of the UK, and on Saturdays, one lucky postcode even gets the chance to share a life-changing £1 million as part of the “Millionaire Street” draw. The twist is simple yet exciting — entire neighbourhoods can benefit when their shared postcode is pulled from the hat.

Throughout October, several Hampshire areas had their turn in the spotlight. Among the winning postcodes were Widley (PO7 8AY), Basingstoke (RG24 9TY and RG22 4DJ), Yateley (GU46 7TX), Gosport (PO13 0RY), Fareham (PO14 2AQ), Romsey (SO51 0GH), Portsmouth (PO6 1HH), Liss (GU33 7HR), Selborne (GU34 3AJ), Blacknest (GU34 4PZ), Southampton (SO15 5LY), Hordle (SO41 6DH), and Horndean (PO8 9RF). Each of these postcode areas bagged £1,000 per ticket — a nice little bonus for those playing the daily draws.
Interestingly, Basingstoke proved to be particularly fortunate, with two separate postcodes winning within the same month. While no Hampshire streets managed to secure the Millionaire Street jackpot this time around, the spread of winners shows just how broad the reach of the lottery has become.
Beyond the thrill of winning, the People’s Postcode Lottery has a strong charitable side. At least 33% of every ticket sold goes directly to charitable causes, which means that even players who don’t win are still contributing to something meaningful. Since its launch in 2005, the lottery has raised over £1.3 billion for more than 9,000 charities and community projects across the UK.
Each month, more than £3.2 million in prize money is distributed, shared among thousands of ticket holders. If there aren’t enough winning tickets in a given postcode sector, the lottery may even expand the area to include the broader district — ensuring that prizes find their way to as many players as possible.
For the Hampshire winners of October 2025, this was a memorable month — a blend of excitement, surprise, and a reminder of how community spirit and a bit of luck can make ordinary days feel extraordinary.
