It’s finally happening — The Devil Wears Prada 2 is officially on the way, and fans of the 2006 classic are losing their minds. The first teaser trailer for the long-awaited sequel has dropped, reuniting Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway nearly twenty years after the original film that became a pop culture phenomenon.

In the brief teaser, we see Meryl Streep’s Miranda Priestly — the icy, impeccably dressed editor-in-chief of Runway magazine — strutting down the hall in her signature red stilettos. The camera follows her sharp heels clicking across the floor, until she steps into an elevator. Then, in walks Anne Hathaway’s Andy Sachs. Miranda, in her classic deadpan tone, simply says, “Took you long enough.” Andy smirks, slides on her sunglasses, and the screen cuts to black. That’s all fans needed to completely lose it.

The sequel, directed once again by David Frankel, is set for release in May 2026. It will follow Miranda Priestly as she struggles to adapt in a world where print magazines are collapsing. Forced to survive in a new digital age, she must reconnect with her former assistant Emily Charlton, played by Emily Blunt, who is now a powerful executive running a luxury fashion brand that controls major advertising budgets Miranda desperately needs.

The returning cast is stacked — Streep, Hathaway, Blunt, and Stanley Tucci are all back. Kenneth Branagh joins as Miranda’s new husband, while newcomers Simone Ashley, Lucy Liu, Rachel Bloom, and B.J. Novak bring fresh energy to the mix. There are even surprise cameos rumored from Lady Gaga and Sydney Sweeney.

For Meryl Streep, this marks her return to the big screen after 2021’s Don’t Look Up , and fans are thrilled to see her reprise one of her most iconic roles — a performance that earned her an Oscar nomination and inspired countless Halloween costumes and memes. The first film grossed over $326 million globally and remains one of the most beloved fashion comedies ever made.

Emily Blunt reflected earlier this year that none of the cast expected the original to become such a massive cultural touchstone. She said the story “has deep emotional roots” for her, not only because of the film’s legacy but because it connected her with her future brother-in-law, Stanley Tucci.

The movie’s filming locations — from Brooklyn to Milan — have already attracted fans and paparazzi alike. And as if that weren’t enough excitement, 2026 is shaping up to be a blockbuster year, with The Devil Wears Prada 2 releasing alongside other major sequels like Toy Story 5 , Spider-Man: Brand New Day , and Scary Movie 6.

So, gird your loins — Miranda Priestly is back. And if the teaser is any indication, she’s just as sharp, stylish, and savage as ever.
