Panthers Stun Rams with Grit, Take First 7-Win Season Since 2022
The Carolina Panthers just pulled off one of their biggest wins in years, and honestly, it felt like the kind of game that changes the mood of an entire franchise. In a rain-soaked matchup against the powerhouse Los Angeles Rams, the Panthers came out on top, 31–28, and the upset wasn’t a fluke — it was earned, play by play.
Right from the start, it looked like the afternoon might belong to Matthew Stafford. He marched the Rams down the field for an opening-drive touchdown, and that score set an NFL record: 28 touchdown passes without a single interception. But whatever momentum the Rams had early was completely flipped on its head shortly after. Stafford threw an interception on the next drive, and not long after that, Mike Jackson jumped a route and returned another pick for a Panthers touchdown. Suddenly, the weather wasn’t the only thing turning messy — so was the Rams’ offense.
The Panthers’ defense kept piling on the pressure. On the Rams’ final possession, with the game hanging in the balance, Stafford was hit and fumbled, and that sealed it. Any hopes of extra time or a late comeback were shut down right there.

Meanwhile, Bryce Young delivered one of his cleanest, most confident performances of the season. He threw for 206 yards on just 20 attempts and recorded three touchdowns. The biggest moment came with a little over six minutes left, when he found rookie Tetairoa McMillan for a gorgeous 43-yard go-ahead touchdown — McMillan’s only catch of the day, but easily the most important.
Young wasn’t the only standout. Jalen Coker brought in four catches for 74 yards and a touchdown. Chuba Hubbard played a huge role, too — not just on the ground with 83 yards, but as a receiver with another touchdown on a catch-and-run. It was exactly the kind of balanced offensive approach the Panthers have been trying to lean into all season.
The Rams still had their moments. Stafford finished with 243 passing yards and two touchdowns, both to Davante Adams, who continued to show why he’s one of the league’s most reliable receivers. But the turnovers proved too costly, and Carolina made them pay every time.
With this win, the Panthers improve to 7–6, marking their first season with at least seven victories since 2022. It also keeps them firmly in the NFC South race, right behind Tampa Bay. For a team that’s been trying to claw its way back to relevance, this felt like a breakthrough — the kind of gritty, resilient performance that signals a shift.
And maybe, just maybe, the Panthers are finally turning the corner.
