Ravens' Emery Jones Jr. Set for Debut Against Jets
Rookie offensive lineman Emery Jones Jr. is set to make his much-anticipated debut for the Baltimore Ravens this Sunday against the New York Jets. Jones will be taking the place of veteran backup guard Ben Cleveland, who has been named a healthy scratch for the first time this season. As the Ravens prepare for this crucial matchup at M&T Bank Stadium, they are also dealing with several other notable inactives. Wide receiver Rashad Bateman (ankle) and cornerback Keyon Martin (ribs) have both been ruled out, with Bateman missing his second consecutive game. Additionally, defensive tackle Aeneas Peebles and offensive tackle Carson Vinson will not suit up for the game. The Ravens also elevated rookie linebacker Chandler Martin and veteran Amani Oruwariye from the practice squad to help fill the gaps left by injured players.
Jones, who underwent shoulder surgery following the NFL Combine, has been working hard to recover and get back on track. Though he missed the entire offseason while rehabbing, the Ravens were impressed enough with his potential to select him in the third round of the draft. Now, after returning to practice on October 1, Jones is ready to show what he can bring to the team. Head coach John Harbaugh has praised Jones for his "very quick progress," especially considering the challenges of transitioning from playing right tackle in college to focusing on guard with the Ravens.

Jones himself has acknowledged that his biggest improvement has come in the mental aspect of the game. "I feel like I’ve made some big improvements," he said this week. "It’s the mental part that kind of sets you apart. Being able to play fast off the ball, hit people, and get to your assignment quickly—that’s what makes the difference."
Meanwhile, the Jets are also making a key personnel move as they prepare for the Ravens. Defensive lineman Khalen Saunders Sr. will be making his debut for the Jets after being picked up from the Jacksonville Jaguars earlier this week. Saunders, known for his run-stuffing ability, is expected to make an impact on the defensive line. Despite the loss of key players like Sauce Gardner and Quinnen Williams earlier in the season, the Jets have remained competitive, with head coach Robert Saleh managing to keep his players engaged. They will need to rely on solid quarterback play from Tyrod Taylor, who has taken over after Justin Fields' injury, if they hope to put up a strong fight against the Ravens.
Both teams have something to prove in this Week 12 matchup, and all eyes will be on the rookies as they make their debuts in what could be a pivotal game for both the Ravens and Jets.
