RDS Mourns the Loss of Beloved Colleague Philippe-André Moreau
The sports community in Quebec is mourning the loss of one of its quiet giants, Philippe-André Moreau — a man whose dedication and creativity helped shape RDS for more than 25 years. His passing, following a long and courageous battle with cancer, has left a deep void not only within the network but also in the hearts of those who worked alongside him.
Philippe-André wasn’t someone the public often saw on screen, but his influence behind the camera was profound. From the newsroom to production, and later in marketing and self-promotion, he played a vital role in developing what RDS has become today. His journey with the network began in 1999, and over the decades, he contributed to countless projects that helped define sports broadcasting in Quebec.

One of his most remarkable achievements came with the acclaimed series “25 ans d’émotions,” launched in 2014 to celebrate RDS’s 25th anniversary. Philippe-André served as both producer and director for more than twenty episodes of the series, capturing unforgettable moments that reflected the spirit of Canadian and Quebecois sports. His work on that series earned him a prestigious Gémeaux Award in 2016 — a fitting recognition for someone who always pursued excellence with humility and heart.
The announcement of his passing was made by RDS through an emotional statement, expressing how deeply the network’s family has been affected by his loss. “Philippe-André Moreau was a pillar of RDS,” the statement read. “He made significant contributions to our growth and success, and his legacy will live on in every project he helped bring to life.”
Tributes quickly poured in from across the sports world. TVA Sports journalist Renaud Lavoie shared a heartfelt message, saying, “It is with sadness that I learn of the passing of Philippe-André Moreau, with whom I worked for many years at RDS. A wonderful person. My condolences to his family and many friends.”
It’s hard to overstate just how much Philippe-André meant to those who knew him. He was described as passionate, kind, and endlessly devoted to his craft — the type of colleague who made everyone around him better. Even though his work was often done away from the spotlight, its impact reached millions of viewers who grew up watching RDS.
Today, the RDS family and the broader Quebec sports community stand united in grief, remembering a man who helped tell their stories with warmth, precision, and respect. Philippe-André Moreau’s name might not have appeared on every screen, but his fingerprints are everywhere — on the programs, the memories, and the people who make sports more than just a game.
May he rest in peace.
