Roslovic’s OT Heroics Give Oilers a 2-1 Win Over Flyers
What a night it was at the Xfinity Mobile Arena in Philadelphia as the Edmonton Oilers edged out the Flyers 2-1 in an overtime thriller. Jack Roslovic once again proved to be the overtime hero, scoring just 1:19 into the extra period to seal the victory for Edmonton. The goal came after Flyers defenseman Cam York lost control of the puck at the blue line, setting up a perfect 2-on-0 rush with Matt Savoie. Roslovic credited a “little touch” from Savoie for helping them stay onside and finish the play, and it was enough to give the Oilers their second consecutive OT win, following Monday’s 5-4 triumph over the Columbus Blue Jackets.
This performance continues to highlight the impact Roslovic has had since signing a one-year deal with Edmonton in October. Coach Kris Knoblauch praised him not only for his speed and secondary scoring but also for his clutch performances in overtime. “Jack has been a great addition to our team,” Knoblauch said, emphasizing his value on five-on-five play, the power play, and in high-pressure moments.

Earlier in the game, Evan Bouchard had given the Oilers an early 1-0 lead with a one-timer goal off a pass from Connor McDavid late in the first period. That assist extended McDavid’s point streak to six games, bringing him to 11 points so far this season. The Flyers fought back in the second period, with 20-year-old Matvei Michkov scoring his third straight goal to tie it 1-1 on a power play. Michkov’s wrist shot past Oilers goalie Stuart Skinner showcased his scoring talent and extended the Flyers’ point streak to four games.
The game remained tight throughout, with Philadelphia’s Travis Konecny appearing to score with just 24 seconds left in regulation, only for the goal to be overturned due to an offside by teammate Owen Tippett. The Flyers were left frustrated, but coach Rick Tocchet acknowledged the positives, noting that playing under these pressure-packed conditions is part of the team’s growth process.
For Edmonton, Stuart Skinner stopped 20 shots, while Savoie contributed two assists, making this a complete team effort. The victory also marked a rebound for the Oilers after a rough three-game skid, including a heavy 9-1 loss to Colorado. With this momentum, Edmonton now sets out on a seven-game road trip, hoping to carry their newfound confidence forward.
It was a night of tight defense, clutch plays, and unforgettable overtime excitement, and Jack Roslovic’s heroics ensured that the Oilers walked away with the win. This young forward is quickly establishing himself as a key player for Edmonton, showing once again that in the NHL, games are often decided by just one brilliant play at the right moment.
