Ruth explained on TikTok that she’s staying with her parents while recovering from the operation, joking that she’s “back making TikTok content” at home but can’t film in her usual upstairs room anymore. The reason, she revealed, is pretty major: her second leg has just been amputated below the knee. She said there was “a lot to unpack for everyone involved,” and she wasn’t wrong—this moment marks a huge turning point in her life.
Her first amputation happened when she was just 23, and it wasn’t something she expected at all. A football injury in her teens triggered eight years filled with complications, surgeries, and constant pain. Even after doctors removed all her toes in 2021, it became clear things still weren’t improving. She’d spent nearly a decade relying on crutches, often walking on her toes without even realising it, and that eventually destroyed the joints in her foot. As she said in an earlier interview, her quality of life simply wasn’t going to get any better unless this second procedure was done.
In typical Ruth fashion, though, she managed to keep things light. She introduced her new wheelchair on TikTok—named “Fat Tony”—and captioned the video with a cheeky “No legs who dis?” Even in the middle of a life-altering recovery, she continues to use humor as a way to connect with her followers.
