Shirlie Kemp Opens Up About Martin’s Jungle Confessions
So, the buzz right now is all about Martin Kemp’s time in the I’m A Celebrity camp — and especially the way his wife, Shirlie Kemp, is reacting to some of the very personal stories he’s been sharing. And honestly, she’s taking it all with a mix of embarrassment, humour, and pure affection.

Shirlie, who many remember from her Wham! days as part of Pepsi & Shirlie, has admitted that she’s been very embarrassed by a few of Martin’s revelations, especially the ones about their sex life. The moment he shared that infamous “wheelbarrow” story — including a full demonstration by the campfire — became an instant talking point. She says every time she goes to the gym, people tease her with a playful, “Ooooh, Martin!” But she also admits she’s used to him oversharing and doesn’t take it too seriously.
This isn’t the only surprise Martin has dropped in camp. He also revealed that he was once considered for the role of James Bond before Pierce Brosnan eventually snagged it. Shirlie’s reaction? She thinks Martin would’ve made “the most handsome Bond ever,” and honestly, she seemed to mean it.
What’s been especially sweet during all this is seeing how involved their son Roman is. He’s been online relentlessly, encouraging people to vote for his dad to do the tougher Bushtucker Trials — even joking about bleaching his eyes after hearing the wheelbarrow confession. Their daughter Harley Moon has also been busy competing on Celebrity Race Across the World, so Shirlie says the whole family has felt like “ships in the night” lately.
With everyone scattered across different shows, Shirlie is already planning something special for when Martin comes home — a big, lively Christmas party. She says Martin asked her to arrange a proper celebration the moment he got back, and she’s going all out with decorations, food, cocktails, and all the people they love. And knowing that he’ll return from the jungle absolutely starving, she’s determined to make sure the party is very well catered.
Through all the jokes, teasing, and slightly blush-inducing stories, one thing still shines through: Martin and Shirlie’s bond is as strong as ever. Nearly four decades of marriage later, they’re still laughing, still supporting each other, and still showing that humour might just be one of their biggest secrets to staying solid.
