Split Enz Reunites for a Spectacular 2026 Australian Tour
It’s official — history really does repeat. After more than a decade away from the stage, the legendary New Zealand band Split Enz is set to reunite for a major Australian tour in 2026, marking 50 years since their groundbreaking debut. Fans across Australia are thrilled as the iconic group prepares to bring its eccentric energy and unforgettable hits back to life.
The band, formed in Auckland back in 1972 by Tim Finn and Phil Judd , became famous for blending theatrical flair with sharp pop sensibilities. Their colorful costumes, quirky stage shows, and unforgettable songs made them one of the most innovative acts to emerge from the Southern Hemisphere. By the time Neil Finn joined in 1977, Split Enz had refined their sound into something magical — artful, accessible, and entirely unique. Their 1980 album True Colours , featuring the timeless anthem I Got You , became a multi-platinum success and turned them into household names across Australia, New Zealand, and beyond.

Now, after 16 years apart, Split Enz is reforming with both Tim and Neil Finn , alongside long-time members Eddie Rayner and Noel Crombie . They’ll be joined by Matt Eccles on drums and James Milne (aka Lawrence Arabia) on bass, promising a mix of nostalgia and fresh energy. The reunion comes not only as a celebration of their 50th anniversary but also as part of the rebirth of Byron Bay’s Bluesfest , where Split Enz will headline in April 2026 before launching into a string of arena shows across the country in May.
Their tour will take them from Melbourne’s Rod Laver Arena on May 13 , to Sydney’s ICC Theatre on May 18 , then over to Perth Arena on May 22 , and finishing at Adelaide Entertainment Centre on May 25 . It’s their first full Australian tour since 2006 — and fans are being advised not to miss it, as Split Enz reunions have always been rare and fleeting.
Bluesfest director Peter Noble confirmed the band will lead a massive 2026 lineup featuring legendary acts like Earth, Wind & Fire , Buddy Guy , The Pogues , and Counting Crows . The festival’s return comes after Noble initially declared 2025 would be its final year, but overwhelming support from fans and artists revived the event. He’s promised major improvements to the festival setup — from bigger stages and covered seating to better transport options — making the 2026 edition one of the most anticipated yet.
For long-time fans and new listeners alike, the return of Split Enz is more than just a concert tour. It’s a celebration of creative spirit, brotherhood, and the enduring power of music that connects generations. After all, in the world of Split Enz, “History Never Repeats” — except when it’s this good.
