Texans Shock Bills with Eight Sacks and Game-Sealing Turnover
Last night, the Houston Texans pulled off a stunning upset over the Buffalo Bills, winning 23-19 in a game that was full of drama and big plays. Houston’s defense dominated from start to finish, sacking Josh Allen eight times and forcing three crucial turnovers, with Calen Bullock delivering the game-sealing interception in the final seconds.
The game started with Buffalo taking an early lead on a 45-yard touchdown run by James Cook, though a missed extra point left the score at 6-0. The Texans responded quickly, moving into the red zone and settling for a 24-yard field goal to make it 6-3. Houston then took the lead for the first time after Christian Kirk scored on a short two-yard touchdown pass, making it 10-9 just before halftime. Bullock had a big defensive moment when he intercepted a tipped pass, although a penalty negated the touchdown, leaving Houston with possession at the Buffalo 25, eventually extending their lead with a field goal. Buffalo answered back with a spectacular 97-yard kickoff return touchdown by Ray Davis, giving the Bills a 16-13 advantage. But the Texans regained momentum before halftime as Jayden Higgins caught an eight-yard touchdown pass with just seconds left to give Houston a 20-16 lead.

In the second half, Houston’s defense continued to pressure Allen relentlessly. Will Anderson Jr. recorded 2.5 sacks, Danielle Hunter added two more, and the Texans’ defensive line harassed Allen throughout the night. The relentless pressure ultimately led to Allen being sacked eight times—the most in his career—and kept the Bills from finding the end zone. Bullock also forced a fumble late in the third quarter, which was recovered by Jaylen Reed, setting up a field goal that extended Houston’s lead to 23-16. Buffalo managed a 38-yard field goal to close the gap to 23-19, but their final drive ended in heartbreak. After a hook-and-ladder play and a short pass to gain 44 yards, a false-start penalty pushed them back to fourth-and-6. Bullock then intercepted Allen at the Houston 9-yard line with 24 seconds remaining, sealing the win.
Davis Mills, filling in for the injured C.J. Stroud, threw for 153 yards and two first-half touchdowns, helping Houston secure their third consecutive victory and move above .500 at 6-5. Buffalo, meanwhile, saw Allen throw for 253 yards without a touchdown, a sharp contrast to his six-touchdown performance against Tampa Bay last week. James Cook finished with 116 rushing yards and a touchdown, marking his third straight 1,000-yard season.
The Texans’ defense was the story of the night, and Bullock’s heroics ensured that Houston celebrated a thrilling Thursday night victory over a strong Bills team. The Texans now look to carry this momentum into their next matchup against Indianapolis, while the Bills will try to regroup before facing Pittsburgh.
