Thanksgiving 2025 Takes Center Stage at the Macy’s Parade

The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade for 2025 is shaping up to be one of the most exciting editions yet, and it feels like the whole country is already buzzing. This year marks the 99th annual celebration, and once again the parade is set to march through New York City with all the charm, color, and spectacle that people look forward to every single Thanksgiving morning.

The parade is scheduled to kick off at 8:30 a.m. ET, starting at West 77th Street and Central Park West, before making its way down the familiar 2½-mile route and wrapping up at Macy’s Herald Square around noon. Many people begin lining up as early as 6 a.m., hoping to claim the best viewing spots along Central Park West or Sixth Avenue. And of course, millions more will be watching from home as NBC and Peacock broadcast the event nationwide, with Savannah Guthrie, Hoda Kotb, and Al Roker returning as the parade hosts. For those who prefer a Spanish-language broadcast, Telemundo will provide a full simulcast as well.

One of the big highlights this year is the performer lineup, which is stacked with talent from across music, film, and even Netflix’s latest hits. Cynthia Erivo, the star of Wicked: For Good , will open the broadcast, giving the morning an early spark of magic. Fans online have already been celebrating her appearance, and her performance is expected to set the tone for the entire show. There will also be appearances from Lainey Wilson, continuing her momentum after a sold-out world tour, along with artists like Ciara, Callum Scott, Russell Dickerson, Colbie Caillat, and Busta Rhymes. Even the voices behind the animated hit KPop Demon Hunters —EJAE, Audrey Nuna, and REI AMI—will be taking the stage.

But the performers are just the beginning. The parade will feature 34 massive balloons and 28 floats this year, and some brand-new character balloons are making their debut. These include iconic favorites like Buzz Lightyear, Pac-Man, Shrek’s Onion Carriage, and Mario. Fans of KPop Demon Hunters will also spot Derpy Tiger and Sussie floating above the streets. Meanwhile, a new generation of hippos will join the parade with a redesigned balloonicle, and the Frost Pips will arrive in what’s being called the largest balloonicle the parade has ever featured.

Six new floats will roll out as well, each with its own theme—from a winter wonderland created by Holland America Line to a LEGO-inspired snowy mountain, a Stranger Things–themed spectacle, and even a chocolate ballroom from Lindt. And as always, the parade will wrap up with Santa’s Sleigh, signaling the official start of the holiday season.

All in all, the 2025 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade is set to bring families together with a blend of tradition, creativity, and pure holiday excitement. Whether you’re watching from the streets of New York or from your living room couch, it promises to be a spectacular start to Thanksgiving Day.
