The outing was a picture of affection, as Tilda and Sandro, 47, were seen supporting Wes Anderson, with whom Tilda has collaborated on several films including Moonrise Kingdom , The Grand Budapest Hotel , Isle of Dogs , The French Dispatch , and Asteroid City . Their relationship, spanning over 20 years, includes a notable 17-year age gap, yet their chemistry was evident as they stepped out together in the heart of London.
Tilda showcased her signature avant-garde style for the event, donning a beige PVC co-ord paired with a black polo neck. Her outfit was complemented by striking black pointed-toe shoes with elegant ankle ties. Her platinum blonde hair was slicked back in classic Swinton fashion, while a pop of vibrant red lipstick added a bold, polished touch to her look. Sandro, a distinguished German visual artist renowned for his Skype portraits and oil paintings, appeared equally stylish in a velvet suit with a red tie, perfectly matching Tilda’s unconventional yet chic aesthetic.
The couple lives in Nairn, Scotland, in a home Tilda previously shared with her late partner, the playwright and artist John Byrne, who passed away in November 2023. Despite the change in circumstances, Tilda has spoken warmly about the relationships she maintains, highlighting a harmonious family dynamic. She shared that she remains friends with John, the father of her twins, Honor and Xavier, now 26, and that Sandro and John also share a positive friendship. “Life doesn’t have to be complicated,” Tilda reflected. “You just have to have compassion with yourself and stop blaming yourself when things do get complicated.”
The evening at the Design Museum not only celebrated Wes Anderson’s incredible body of work, showcasing over 700 objects from his films, but also offered a rare glimpse into the private life of one of cinema’s most enigmatic and stylish stars. Tilda and Sandro’s appearance was a gentle reminder that love, friendship, and art often intersect in the most elegant and enduring ways.
