A Week Of Weather Wonders And Worries Around The World
So, let’s talk about what the world’s weather looked like between November 24 and 30 — because it has been a truly striking mix of beauty, danger, and change. This past week delivered everything from deadly floods in Southeast Asia to early hints of winter sweeping across parts of Europe and Asia. And through all of it, some powerful images were captured, each one telling its own story.
Across Southeast Asia, the situation has been especially heartbreaking. Indonesia, Thailand, and nearby regions have been battling catastrophic floods and mudslides. Entire streets in Indonesia’s Aceh province were turned into rivers, forcing motorists to ride through water that reached well above their wheels. In Thailand’s Hat Yai City, flood damage has been widespread, and although officials are still working through the details, local reports suggest the death toll there alone may be in the hundreds. Rescue crews in Indonesia have continued searching relentlessly for missing people after flash floods swept through parts of West Sumatera. Sadly, more than 300 lives have already been lost to recent mudslides and flooding across the country. The scenes coming out of these areas have been both devastating and overwhelming, with homes destroyed, roads washed out, and communities left trying to recover from one blow after another.

Meanwhile, in Gaza City, a different kind of challenge has been unfolding. Displaced Palestinians living in makeshift camps have been working to direct rainwater by carving channels into the sand, doing whatever they can to manage the weather with the limited resources they have.
