AC/DC Turn Brisbane Into a High-Voltage Rock Finale
AC/DC’s return to Brisbane has just been written into rock history, and honestly, it feels like the kind of night fans will be talking about for decades. After ten long years away, the legendary band rolled back into their homeland to wrap up the Australian leg of their Power Up Tour with two massive shows at Suncorp Stadium on December 14 and 18. These weren’t just concerts. They were full-blown celebrations of everything AC/DC stands for: volume, sweat, nostalgia, and pure, unfiltered rock and roll.
By the time the gates opened in the late afternoon, the atmosphere was already thick with anticipation. Brisbane heat, buzzing crowds, and generations of fans poured into Suncorp, many of them clearly aware they were about to witness something special. The night was kicked off by local favorites Headsend, followed by the wild, chaotic energy of Amyl & The Sniffers. Their snarling set felt like a shot of adrenaline straight to the heart, perfectly priming the stadium for what was coming next.

When the lights finally dropped and AC/DC took the stage, the roar from the crowd was deafening. Angus Young, in full schoolboy uniform, led the charge on guitar, joined by Brian Johnson on vocals, Stevie Young on rhythm guitar, Matt Laug on drums, and Chris Chaney on bass. From the opening blast of “If You Want Blood (You’ve Got It),” it was clear that no corners were going to be cut. The sound hit like a physical force, and the stadium instantly became one giant, moving mass of raised fists and devil horns.
Classic after classic followed. “Back in Black,” “Thunderstruck,” “Highway to Hell,” and “You Shook Me All Night Long” were all delivered with the kind of power that made it hard to believe how long this band has been doing it. A particularly emotional moment was felt when “Jailbreak” was played, marking its first appearance on the tour since 1991, sending longtime fans into absolute disbelief.
The encore sealed the deal. “T.N.T.” had the entire stadium chanting in unison, before “For Those About To Rock (We Salute You)” closed the night with cannon fire, explosions, and a sense that Brisbane had just been completely and gloriously blown apart. As fans spilled out into the night, ears ringing and shirts soaked, one thing was clear: AC/DC didn’t just finish a tour. They reminded everyone exactly why they are untouchable.
