All-American Rejects Pull Out of Good Things Festival at the Last Minute
So here’s what’s been happening around the Good Things Festival 2025 — and honestly, it’s been a whirlwind. Just days before the first show in Melbourne, two major international acts, The All-American Rejects and Knocked Loose, have had to suddenly withdraw from the entire Australian run. Their cancellations came only three days before the festival kicks off, and the news hit fans hard, especially because both bands were set to play not just the festival dates but also several sideshows in Melbourne and Sydney.
Festival organisers confirmed on Tuesday night that both bands were forced to cancel their trips due to family emergencies. Statements were released almost immediately, and you could feel how difficult the moment was for both groups. The All-American Rejects shared that a sudden family loss had made it impossible for them to travel. They expressed how heartbreaking it was to step away from what would have been their first Australian performances in 16 years. They said they were devastated to miss the chance to reconnect with their Australian fans, but made it clear that family has to come first. They also promised to make it up to their fans as soon as they’re able.

Knocked Loose shared a similar message. They explained that they never cancel shows lightly, and anyone who follows the band knows how serious they are about commitments. But once again, family came before everything else. They promised they’re already planning their return and can’t wait to come back when the timing is right.
With these sudden changes, the festival team had to react quickly. Good Things acknowledged the emotional weight of the situation and extended their support to the bands and their families. They also reassured fans that despite unexpected challenges, the festival would move forward with the same energy and community spirit it’s known for.
To fill the open slots, two beloved Australian acts stepped in at the last moment. Stand Atlantic will take over The All-American Rejects’ spot, while Alpha Wolf will replace Knocked Loose. Both bands expressed how honoured they felt to be asked, even if the circumstances weren’t easy. Alpha Wolf also encouraged fans to catch them on the main stage in Melbourne, Sydney, and Brisbane this weekend, stepping up on incredibly short notice.
So while it’s undeniably disappointing for fans hoping to see these two US acts, the festival is still shaping up to be a massive weekend. The energy, the music, and the sense of community are all still very much alive — and everyone is hoping both bands find the comfort and time they need before returning to Australia in the future.
