Boldy’s OT Heroics Complete Stunning Wild Comeback Against Slumping Jets
If you were watching this one from start to finish, it felt like the kind of game that completely flipped in the final moments. The Minnesota Wild walked into Canada Life Centre and somehow left with a dramatic 4–3 overtime win over the Winnipeg Jets, and the way it happened made it sting even more for the home crowd.
For most of the night, Winnipeg looked like it was finally going to snap its skid. Chances were created early, and the Jets were rewarded when Josh Morrissey opened the scoring late in the first period. The Wild did answer before the break though, as Matt Boldy redirected a point shot at the crease to tie things up, setting the tone for a back-and-forth battle.

That advantage didn’t last long. Kyle Connor was left open near the circle, and a quick pass from Mark Scheifele found him for the equalizer. Just seconds before the second intermission, Scheifele struck himself, snapping a wrist shot past the goalie to send Winnipeg into the break up 3–2 and in control.
From there, it felt like the Jets simply needed to close it out. Time kept ticking down in the third period, and Minnesota struggled to break through. But hockey has a way of punishing teams that sit back, and that lesson was delivered late. With the Wild on the power play and the clock nearly empty, Mats Zuccarello buried the tying goal with just 22 seconds remaining. The building went quiet, and suddenly momentum had completely shifted.
Overtime didn’t last long. Just 39 seconds in, Boldy found himself in the slot, took the pass, and finished cleanly to seal the comeback. It was his second goal of the night and the defining moment of the game. The Wild had stolen it, plain and simple.
For Minnesota, this win felt like another statement from a team that refuses to go away. Points have now been collected in nine of their last ten games, and confidence is clearly building. For Winnipeg, though, it was another painful chapter. A late lead was surrendered, and a fifth straight loss was added to a growing list of missed opportunities. When games slip away like this, questions naturally start to follow, and right now, answers are hard to find for the Jets.
