Bondi Beach Tragedy and the Man at the Centre of a Shattered Day
What happened at Bondi Beach has left Australia shaken, and as more details emerge, the name Sajid Akram has become central to understanding the scale and horror of that day. According to police and local media, Sajid Akram, a 50-year-old man, was one of the two gunmen involved in the deadly shooting that unfolded during a Hanukkah celebration on Sydney’s iconic Bondi Beach. The second attacker was identified as his 24-year-old son, Naveed. It was later confirmed that the two were acting together, as father and son.

Fifteen people were killed, including a 10-year-old girl, a British-born rabbi, a retired police officer, and a Holocaust survivor. Sajid Akram died at the scene after police intervened, while his son was taken into custody and remains in critical condition.
