The IPL auction for the 2026 season has delivered one of its biggest headline moments yet, and this time, it belongs to Australia’s Cameron Green. In a dramatic bidding war that kept fans and analysts glued, Green was snapped up by the Kolkata Knight Riders for a staggering £2.06 million, making him the most expensive overseas player in IPL history.
The auction room buzzed with tension as Kolkata Knight Riders and Chennai Super Kings went head-to-head, both clearly desperate to secure a proven overseas all-rounder. In the end, it was Kolkata who held their nerve and landed the 26-year-old, adding another blockbuster name to their squad.
