Right now, he’s just completed the third day of the trek, and this stretch alone covered about 28 kilometres along the Thames Path across Surrey and into London. As he described it, the whole experience has been “very, very emotional” — even more emotional than he expected. And honestly, it makes sense. He explained that Wednesday’s route passed through spots like Richmond and Walton-on-Thames, places where the family spent a lot of time together. He said that was where his mum really crafted her career and spent so many years filming, so walking those paths added a personal layer of meaning to each step.

Charlie wasn’t walking alone that day either — his uncle, Pauline’s brother, joined him for part of the journey. And throughout the trek, Charlie has been overwhelmed by messages of love and support for his mum. He said the encouragement has been “incredible,” and it’s clearly pushing him forward.

The walk began on Monday in Chigwell, Essex, the setting of Birds of a Feather , and he was even waved off by his mum’s longtime co-stars Linda Robson and Ray Winstone. Linda said she’s watched Charlie grow up, and seeing him do something so special for his mother means the absolute world — especially because, for Pauline, motherhood has always been the role she cherished most.

Charlie, who is also an actor and presenter, said his mum has always been his role model both on and off the screen. He mentioned that being around someone with her talent naturally inspired him to follow in her footsteps. And despite everything, he says she’s doing well, she’s proud of him, and the family takes each day as it comes.
