DPS Bodycam Reveals Dramatic Laredo Chase That Ends Human Smuggling Operation
A dramatic scene unfolded recently in Laredo, Texas, and it was all captured on Texas Department of Public Safety bodycam footage. According to officials, what began as a routine attempt to stop a vehicle quickly turned into a dangerous high-speed chase that ended with a violent crash and the arrest of a suspected human smuggler.
The incident involved a Lincoln Navigator that was spotted by DPS troopers and later linked to human smuggling activity. When troopers attempted to intervene, the driver refused to stop, and the pursuit escalated through the streets of Laredo. Speeds increased, risks mounted, and the situation became increasingly volatile as the chase continued. It was later confirmed that the pursuit came to a sudden and alarming end when the SUV slammed into a commercial vehicle.

The driver was identified by DPS as Jorge Alonso Diaz Jr., a Laredo resident. After the crash, he was taken into custody at the scene. Bodycam footage showed troopers quickly securing the area and moving to assess the condition of those inside the vehicle. What was discovered inside only deepened the seriousness of the case.
Authorities said that 10 undocumented immigrants, along with a child, were found inside the SUV. The conditions inside the vehicle raised immediate concerns, especially considering the high speeds and the violent impact of the crash. Fortunately, troopers were able to intervene before the situation became even more tragic, though the danger faced by everyone involved was clear.
As a result of the incident, Diaz was charged with multiple serious offenses. These charges include smuggling of persons, evading arrest, and causing serious bodily injury. DPS officials emphasized that these charges reflect not only the act of smuggling but also the extreme risk created by attempting to flee from law enforcement in such a reckless manner.
