Fast & Furious Goes Full Throttle Weird With Cristiano Ronaldo Joining the Saga
So here’s a Fast and Furious update that absolutely no one had on their bingo card. It’s been about two years since Fast X wrapped up with that jaw-dropping cliffhanger, and ever since then, fans have been stuck in limbo. Big promises were made about a grand finale to the Fast Saga, but actual progress has felt slow, unclear, and honestly a little confusing. Most of what we’ve heard has come straight from Vin Diesel himself, usually through social media teases rather than official studio announcements.
Now, Diesel has once again taken to social media, and this time the reveal might be the strangest yet. He posted a photo with global football icon Cristiano Ronaldo and casually confirmed that a role has been written for him in the Fast and Furious universe. Just like that, the internet was sent into a frenzy. According to Diesel, fans had been asking if Ronaldo would ever be part of the “Fast mythology,” and his answer was simple and confident: yes, he’s in, and he’s “a real one.”

What makes this announcement even more surprising is that Ronaldo has no real acting background. He’s one of the most famous athletes on the planet, but feature films are uncharted territory for him. Still, the Fast franchise has never shied away from big personalities, and it could be argued that star power has always been one of its driving forces. In that sense, Ronaldo feels like a natural fit, even if the timing feels odd.
That timing issue is hard to ignore. Despite Diesel’s excitement, there’s still no confirmed release date, no official title, and no clear production timeline for the next Fast movie. Universal Studios hasn’t locked anything in, and fans still don’t know when, or even how, this story will continue. Fast X itself was delayed multiple times, so skepticism is understandable.
On top of that, Diesel has previously said the final film needs to return to Los Angeles, refocus on street racing, and bring back the emotional core of the original movies. He has even claimed that Paul Walker’s character, Brian O’Conner, needs to return in some form, possibly through visual effects, just as was done in Furious 7. None of these ideas have been officially confirmed, but they’ve added to the growing list of expectations surrounding the finale.
All of this is happening while the story itself is hanging by a thread. Dom’s car was last seen driving down an exploding dam, a plane full of fan-favorite characters was crashing, and Gisele shockingly turned out to be alive with a submarine. There are so many loose ends that still need to be tied up, and none of them scream “back to street racing.”
In that context, finding a place for Cristiano Ronaldo might actually be the easiest problem for the next Fast movie to solve.
