Freedom Mobile Kicks Off Boxing Week Early with Big Data Plans and $0 Phones

So, with Boxing Day still weeks away, Freedom Mobile has already jumped the gun and rolled out its Boxing Week deals, and honestly, they’re pretty eye-catching if you’re in the market for a new phone plan or even a device. These offers are clearly aimed at people who want more data without paying flagship-level prices every month, and the timing feels intentional, landing right as Canadians start planning their holiday spending.

The headline plans are all about big data and cross-border coverage. Freedom has introduced a $39 plan that comes with 70GB of 5G+ data, along with Canada, U.S., and Mexico roaming included. That’s a lot of data for under forty bucks, especially considering international coverage is baked in. There’s also a $49 plan offering 100GB, and for those who really chew through data, a $59 plan with a massive 150GB is being offered. All of these plans run on Freedom’s 5G+ network and are positioned as limited-time Boxing Week specials.

What’s interesting is how aggressive this pricing feels compared to what’s usually seen from Canadian carriers. Plans like these are often saved for Black Friday or post-holiday promos, but they’re being pushed out early, likely to lock customers in before competitors respond. It’s being framed as a Boxing Week preview, but for many people, this might already be enough reason to switch.

On top of the plans, Freedom Mobile has also lined up some hardware deals. The iPhone 17 is being offered for $0 upfront on a two-year term, as long as you’re on an eligible $79 per month plan and agree to a trade-up arrangement, meaning the phone has to be returned in good condition at the end of the term. A similar setup is being applied to the Pixel 10, which is available for $0 on a $59 per month plan, again with a trade-up requirement.

There’s even a wearable deal in the mix. The Apple Watch SE 3, in the 40mm size, is being offered for $0 when paired with a $60 per month phone plan on a two-year term, with the watch plan included. This one is limited to in-store purchases, which suggests availability might be tighter.

That said, it’s worth pointing out that while the phone deals sound tempting, the bring-your-own-device plans arguably offer the best overall value. You’re not locked into returning a phone later, and the monthly cost stays much lower. Overall, Freedom’s early Boxing Week push is clearly designed to grab attention, and for budget-conscious users who want lots of data and international coverage, these deals are likely to turn some heads.
