Funeral Services Announced for LDS Apostle Jeffrey R. Holland
News has now been shared from Salt Lake City about the passing of President Jeffrey R. Holland, one of the most well-known leaders of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and details surrounding his funeral services have officially been announced. It has been confirmed that President Holland passed away on December 27, 2025, at the age of 85, leaving behind a deep legacy of faith, leadership, and teaching that shaped millions of lives around the world.
According to the Church, funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 31, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Mountain Standard Time. The service is planned to take place inside the historic Tabernacle on Temple Square in Salt Lake City, a location that holds strong spiritual and symbolic meaning for church members. It has been shared that the funeral will be open to the public for those aged eight and older, with doors opening at 9:30 a.m. Seating will be offered on a space-available basis, and overflow seating will be arranged if needed.

The service will be presided over by President Dallin H. Oaks, while Elder Quentin L. Cook, who once served as a mission companion to President Holland, will conduct the proceedings. Remarks are expected to be shared by members of the Holland family, offering personal reflections alongside official tributes. Music during the service will be provided by the Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square, which is often featured during major church events and is expected to bring a reverent and emotional tone to the ceremony.
For those unable to attend in person, the service will be streamed live and made available on demand across multiple platforms. It has been announced that coverage will be offered in 38 languages through the Church’s official website, with additional language streams available on YouTube. The funeral will also be broadcast on several regional television and radio outlets, ensuring that members and admirers around the world can participate remotely.
Following the service, President Holland will be laid to rest in his hometown of St. George, Utah. He will be buried next to his wife, Patricia Holland, who passed away in 2023. Condolences are being accepted by the Church through an official email address, as members worldwide continue to remember a leader whose voice, compassion, and teachings left a lasting impact across generations.
