Logan had been due to cover several knockout games and had travelled knowing she’d be away from her young children, who were just a year old at the time. A short break between the group stages and the knockouts was planned so she could briefly return home. Instead, she was quietly sidelined mid-tournament. The message was clear. Her services were no longer wanted, and she was told not to return.
By her own admission, that period was crushing. She believed her broadcasting career might be over altogether. A senior figure simply hadn’t taken to her, and as a result, she was demoted and removed from one of the biggest assignments in football. After years of hard work, it felt as though everything could end because of one decision made behind closed doors.
What followed, though, was a turning point. Logan left ITV and was given another chance by the BBC. That opportunity changed everything. Over time, she became a central figure in the broadcaster’s biggest sporting events, fronting coverage of the Olympics, the Six Nations, European Championships, and of course, Sports Personality of the Year. The career she feared was finished instead became one of the most respected in the industry.
Earlier this year, another milestone was reached when she was appointed as one of the new presenters of Match of the Day, sharing duties with Mark Chapman and Kelly Cates.
