Jools Holland’s Annual Hootenanny 2025 Brings Music, Nostalgia, and New Year Magic
As the clock ticks closer to the end of the year, one tradition is once again being lined up to help the UK say goodbye to 2025 and welcome 2026 in unforgettable style, and that is Jools Holland’s Annual Hootenanny. For many viewers, this show has become just as important as fireworks or countdowns, and this year’s edition is shaping up to be another memorable one.
As always, Jools Holland will be front and centre, backed by his ever-reliable Rhythm and Blues Orchestra. An eclectic mix of artists has been brought together, blending legendary names with modern hitmakers, and the result is expected to be a celebration that feels both nostalgic and fresh. The lineup has been carefully curated to reflect artists who made waves during 2025, while also honouring musicians who have shaped British music for decades.

Among the standout names is Ronnie Wood, whose presence alone adds serious rock royalty to the night. He is joined by Olivia Dean, one of the brightest rising stars, whose soulful sound has captured attention throughout the year. Lulu also returns, bringing decades of iconic hits with her, while Jessie J is set to deliver powerful vocals that are expected to stop viewers in their tracks. Craig David is also on the bill, continuing his long-standing connection with the show, alongside Heather Small, whose voice defined an era of dance music.
The lineup doesn’t stop there. The Kooks are back to inject indie energy into the evening, while Imelda May adds her signature vintage flair. Joe Webb, David Hermlin, and Ruby Turner round out the performers, each bringing their own distinct musical style, ensuring that no single genre dominates the night. It is this variety that has always made the Hootenanny feel like a proper musical party rather than a standard TV concert.
The show is scheduled to air on Wednesday, 31 December, starting at 11:30pm on BBC Two and BBC iPlayer, and it will run through to around 1:40am, carrying viewers well into the early hours of 2026. Although it may look live, it has already been recorded earlier in the month, including the famous countdown. Even so, the illusion of a real-time celebration is always convincingly maintained.
As midnight arrives, tradition will be honoured once again, with the Pipes and Drums of the 1st Battalion Scots Guards playing in the New Year. It is a moment that never seems to lose its emotional impact. For anyone spending New Year’s Eve at home, Jools Holland’s Annual Hootenanny 2025 is set to be the perfect soundtrack to welcome a brand-new year.
