Lisa Riley’s Quiet Love Story with Her Partner Al

And for Lisa Riley, that person is her long-term partner, Al — the man who has stood by her side for more than a decade, even though the public rarely hears much about him. Their relationship has always been a little low-key, a little private, and very grounded, which is probably why so many viewers are suddenly curious about him.
Lisa first met Al back in 2014 after mutual friends introduced them, and the two clicked almost instantly. What made things even more charming was that Al had no idea Lisa was famous, and she has openly admitted that this was one of the things that drew her to him. They dated for four years before Al proposed in the spring of 2018. She announced the engagement on Instagram with a huge smile and an even bigger ring, telling fans that her soulmate had finally asked the question — though she also made it clear that there was absolutely no wedding date planned. But the reason they may never officially tie the knot is rooted in something far more emotional. Lisa has spoken before about losing her mum, Cath, to cancer in 2012. Al, heartbreakingly, also lost his mother not long ago. The thought of a wedding day without the two most important women in their lives standing beside them feels too painful to consider. Lisa has said that in their hearts, they already feel married, and at this stage in their lives, there’s no need to fix something that isn’t broken.
Their relationship hasn’t been without challenges. Lisa opened up about her IVF journey earlier this year, explaining that after months of trying and disappointing test results, she and Al decided to step back. She said her partner was incredible through the entire experience, and she has chosen to focus on the life they do have — one filled with love, quiet happiness, and a strong sense of completeness.
Even her light-hearted “crush” on Ant McPartlin — jokingly calling him “juicy” in the jungle — didn’t rattle Al at all. When asked about it, he simply laughed it off, saying he has absolutely no fears about where Lisa’s heart truly lies. After 11 years together, he knows exactly who she comes home to.
So while Lisa may not walk down the aisle, her bond with Al is already fully formed, deeply rooted, and, by her own words, everything she needs.
