If anyone needed another reminder of how far Aston Villa have come this season, Sunday night at Villa Park delivered it loud and clear. A 2–1 win over Manchester United wasn’t just another three points, it was a statement, and once again, Morgan Rogers was right at the center of it all.

Villa’s incredible run was extended to 10 straight wins in all competitions, their best top-flight streak in more than a century, stretching back to 1914. And while the collective effort mattered, the night belonged to Rogers. Both Villa goals were scored by the 23-year-old, including a stunning opener that instantly lifted the stadium and set the tone for what followed.

The first half had been fairly even, with goalkeepers on both sides being kept busy. Chances came and went, but it was Rogers who broke the deadlock in spectacular fashion, cutting inside and curling the ball into the top corner. The celebration had barely settled, though, before Manchester United struck back. A lapse in possession was punished, and Matheus Cunha raced through to equalize just before the break, reminding Villa that nothing would come easy.

In the second half, it was clear Villa needed someone to take responsibility, and once again, Rogers delivered. Another composed, curling finish restored the lead, and this time it proved decisive. United had their moments, including a glaring missed header from Cunha, but Villa held firm, showing the kind of resilience that keeps winning runs alive.

After the final whistle, the praise flowed. Unai Emery described Rogers as a “protagonist” and a “fighter,” and those words fit perfectly. His work rate, physical strength, and growing composure have turned him into Villa’s main attacking force. He now has 21 goals across all competitions since last season and is Villa’s top scorer in the league, with seven goals, four of them coming in just the last two matches.

Former players were quick to highlight his impact too. Wayne Rooney spoke about how Rogers has come into his own, while others called him a game-changer with the X-factor to decide tight matches. Even so, Emery was quick to cool down title talk, insisting Villa must stay humble despite sitting third in the table, just three points behind Arsenal.

Still, it’s hard to ignore the feeling around Villa Park right now. Something special is building, confidence is growing, and with Morgan Rogers playing the way he is, Aston Villa are no longer just competing — they’re daring to dream.
