Norfolk Celebrates Big Wins in December’s Premium Bonds Draw
So, something quite exciting has happened in Norfolk this month, and it’s all thanks to December’s Premium Bonds prize draw. A huge wave of prize money has just been announced, and people across the county have collectively taken home more than £2 million . Yes, you heard that right — over £2,088,000 has been paid out to 288 lucky winners, making this a standout month for local bondholders.

To put that into perspective, the average payout works out to around £7,275 per person , but of course, some prizes were much larger. One extremely fortunate winner walked away with the top prize of £1,000,000 , instantly joining the ranks of NS&I’s newest millionaires. On top of that, four people won £100,000 each, and two others pocketed £50,000 . The mid-range prizes were fairly generous too — six winners received £25,000 , another five got £25,000 , four claimed £10,000 , and 32 people secured £5,000 each. And that’s before even counting the hundreds more who picked up £1,000 prizes.
What makes this month’s results even more interesting is how they compare to last month. In November, there were more winners — 354 in total — but the total payout was significantly lower at £780,000 . So December hasn’t just produced bigger wins, it’s produced much bigger wins.
If you’re not familiar with Premium Bonds, they’re an investment product offered by National Savings & Investments, better known as NS&I. Instead of earning interest like you would with a regular savings account, the money you invest is entered into a monthly prize draw. Prizes range from £25 all the way up to £1 million , and every bond has an equal chance each time. It’s essentially a savings product mixed with a bit of monthly suspense.
Andrew Westhead, NS&I’s retail director, reminded everyone that checking your results has never been easier. The Premium Bonds prize checker app, the NS&I website, and even Alexa can confirm if a winning bond number belongs to you — starting from the second working day of each month. So if you’ve got Premium Bonds tucked away somewhere, it might be worth taking a minute to check. You never know — Norfolk’s next big winner could already be holding the winning number without realising it.
Overall, it’s been a month of major excitement for Premium Bonds holders in Norfolk, and this draw has shown once again just how unpredictable — and potentially rewarding — the system can be.
