PSG Ordered to Pay Mbappé Millions as Real Madrid Era Moves On
There’s been a major development involving Kylian Mbappé, and while it all traces back to Paris, the story now firmly follows him into his new chapter at Real Madrid. A French court has ordered Paris Saint-Germain to pay Mbappé €60 million in unpaid salary and bonuses, effectively closing one of the most bitter and long-running contract disputes in modern football.
This ruling comes after months of legal back and forth. Mbappé, now a Real Madrid forward, had originally demanded a staggering €263 million from his former club, claiming unpaid wages, bonuses, and damages linked to what he described as ill-treatment during his final season in Paris. On the other side, PSG had launched a counter-claim worth hundreds of millions, accusing their former star of acting disloyally and causing financial harm to the club.

In the end, the court took a more measured stance. It was recognised that PSG had failed to pay three months of Mbappé’s salary between April and June 2024, along with an ethics bonus and a signing bonus written into his contract. Most of the €60 million awarded is believed to be made up of bonuses rather than basic wages, but the principle of the ruling is what really stands out.
Mbappé’s legal team welcomed the decision, saying it simply confirmed that contracts must be honoured and that labour law applies even at the very top of professional football. It was also stressed that Mbappé had fulfilled his sporting and contractual duties right up until his final day at the club, despite the tense atmosphere surrounding his departure.
PSG, for their part, have said they will comply with the ruling, although the option to appeal has been left open. The club maintained that it acted in good faith throughout the saga and expressed a desire to move forward, pointing toward unity and future success without their former talisman.
This dispute had been simmering for over two years. Mbappé’s refusal to extend his contract, combined with his decision not to accept a lucrative move to Saudi Arabia, led to him being sidelined at times, including missing pre-season tours and early matches in the 2023–24 campaign. Although he was later reinstated, both sides strongly disagreed over whether any verbal agreements had been made about forfeiting bonuses.
Now, with the court’s decision delivered, the focus shifts fully to the present. Mbappé has already begun his journey with Real Madrid, leaving behind a PSG legacy that includes 15 trophies and a record 256 goals. For Madrid fans, this ruling feels like the final full stop on his Paris story, allowing their superstar to concentrate solely on making history in white, while PSG are left to finally turn the page on a saga that defined an era.
