Wicked: For Good is the second and final chapter of the two-part film adaptation based on the beloved Broadway musical and Gregory Maguire’s novel. Picking up right where the first film left off, the story finds Elphaba and Glinda no longer inseparable best friends, but instead living very different lives shaped by the choices they’ve made. Elphaba has been pushed into exile, branded as the Wicked Witch of the West, while Glinda has stepped into the spotlight, celebrated as a shining symbol of goodness in Oz. It’s a sharp emotional contrast, and it sets the stage for a powerful reunion when a certain girl from Kansas unexpectedly enters their world.
Among the returning cast is Ethan Slater, who once again plays Boq Woodsman. Slater, well known for his Broadway roots and stage presence, brings warmth and complexity to Boq, a character whose arc becomes even more layered in this chapter. His performance is part of an ensemble that leans heavily into emotional payoff, showing how friendships formed at Shiz University are tested by power, fear, and public perception.
The film was released in theaters on November 21 and is now set to arrive on digital platforms on December 30. It will be available to buy or rent, even if you don’t have a streaming subscription. Viewers are also being treated to bonus content, including a sing-along version and more than an hour of behind-the-scenes material featuring the cast and director Jon M. Chu. Notably, the sequel runs just over two hours, making it leaner than the first installment while still delivering plenty of spectacle.
While an official streaming date hasn’t been announced yet, it’s widely expected that the movie will land on Peacock in the coming months, following a similar pattern to the first film. Physical copies, including 4K UHD, Blu-ray, and DVD, are also scheduled for release in January 2026.
Overall, Wicked: For Good has already been praised for tightening the story without losing its magic. And with performances from Cynthia Erivo, Ariana Grande, and Ethan Slater helping carry it across the finish line, this final chapter is shaping up to be a fitting and emotional farewell to Oz.
