As the morning weather clears, clouds will give way to sunshine this afternoon. But don't be fooled by the clearer skies — much colder air will sweep into the region, bringing a significant drop in temperatures. By early afternoon, temperatures will linger in the low 30s, but will steadily fall into the 20s by late afternoon. In addition to the chill, wind gusts could exceed 30 mph, creating wind chills in the 20s this morning. By the afternoon, wind chills will drop further, reaching the teens, and could even dip into single digits by evening. A cold weather advisory has been issued, which will last through Monday morning, with wind chills possibly falling below zero in some areas.

Looking ahead, the rest of the week promises to be dry, with a warming trend starting on Monday. Highs will hover in the mid-30s on Monday, then rise to the low to mid-40s by Tuesday. Wednesday will be even milder, with highs reaching the low to mid-50s. Thursday may bring a few showers, especially in the evening, but temperatures will remain relatively mild, with highs expected to range between 55 and 60°F. As Friday approaches, temperatures will stay in the 50s, so it seems like Richmond can look forward to a mild weekend after today’s wintery blast.

While the snowstorm may not be enough to cause widespread disruptions, drivers are still advised to be cautious, particularly on secondary roads and bridges that could remain slick into the evening. If you have to travel, make sure to plan for extra time and keep an eye on local traffic updates. Stay warm and take care out there!
