Mickey Rourke Seeks Help to Avoid Eviction With GoFundMe Campaign
Mickey Rourke, the actor known for his roles in The Wrestler and 9 1/2 Weeks , is currently facing a difficult situation. At 73 years old, Rourke has fallen behind on his rent and is now at risk of eviction from his Los Angeles home. The actor owes a significant amount—nearly $60,000 in back rent—on his three-bedroom Spanish bungalow. In light of these financial struggles, a GoFundMe campaign has been launched with his full approval, aiming to help him prevent eviction and regain some stability.
The GoFundMe page, titled "Support Mickey to Prevent Eviction," explains the dire circumstances Rourke is facing. The description reads, “Life doesn’t always move in a straight line, and despite everything Mickey has given through his work and his life, he is now dealing with a challenging financial moment that has put his housing at risk.” The campaign’s goal is to raise enough funds to cover the immediate housing-related expenses, which will allow Rourke to stay in his home and focus on getting back on his feet.

Liya-Joelle Jones, a close friend and member of Rourke’s management team, is overseeing the fundraiser. She shared with The Hollywood Reporter how heartwarming it has been to see the outpouring of support for the actor during this tough time. By the time the campaign was reported on, it had already raised more than half of the $100,000 goal, with just a few thousand dollars remaining to cover the full amount of back rent.
Rourke’s troubles began with a lawsuit filed in December by his landlord, claiming the actor had failed to pay rent for several months. The actor had signed a lease in March 2025, initially agreeing to pay $5,200 a month. The rent was later raised to $7,000, but with his ongoing financial struggles, Rourke was unable to keep up. This led to the eviction notice in December.
A longtime fixture in Hollywood, Rourke’s career rose to fame in the 1980s with standout roles in films like Diner , The Pope of Greenwich Village , and Angel Heart . However, after a few years, he became disillusioned with the Hollywood system and walked away from acting to pursue professional boxing. The toll boxing took on his body, including facial injuries that required surgery, impacted his acting career. Despite this, Rourke made a notable comeback in 2008 with The Wrestler , a performance that earned him widespread acclaim, including a Golden Globe and an Oscar nomination.
While Rourke has continued to act in supporting roles over the years, many of his films have been low-budget or straight-to-video releases. His current residence, the Spanish bungalow he rents in Los Angeles, is a historic home that was once occupied by legendary author Raymond Chandler. Now, Rourke hopes that the kindness and support of his fans will provide him with the stability needed to avoid eviction and get back on track.
The GoFundMe campaign is a reminder of the unpredictable nature of life and the importance of helping those who have given so much to their craft. Rourke’s request for help demonstrates how even those who have enjoyed success can find themselves in difficult circumstances, and how the support of a community can make a real difference.
