PSG Edge Historic Paris Derby as Pride and Points Stay at the Parc
So this one had everything you’d expect from a long-awaited Paris derby, and then some. For the first time in nearly 50 years, Paris Saint-Germain and Paris FC finally met in a Ligue 1 match, and the occasion felt special long before the first ball was kicked at the Parc des Princes.
The tone was set early by the PSG supporters, as a slightly provocative tifo was unveiled across the stands reading, “Paris c’est nous.” It was a clear message of dominance, a reminder of who has ruled the capital in recent decades. A minute of silence was also observed in tribute to Jean-Louis Gasset, a respected figure who once served as Laurent Blanc’s assistant at PSG, adding a moment of reflection before the noise took over.
On the pitch, PSG were aware that this wasn’t just another league fixture. Despite missing several players due to injuries and the Africa Cup of Nations, a strong side was still fielded. Paris FC, meanwhile, arrived with nothing to lose and everything to prove, hoping to turn the derby into a statement night of their own.

Paris FC tried to push late on, but chances were limited, and their attacks lacked sharpness in the final minutes. The home supporters sensed the win approaching and raised the volume once more, urging their team through the closing stages. In the end, the 2–1 scoreline held firm.
The result allows PSG to keep pace in the Ligue 1 title race, even as they chase down the league leaders. More than that, though, it reinforced their authority in Paris on a night loaded with symbolism. For Paris FC, the performance showed courage and moments of quality, but the gulf in experience was ultimately felt.
It may have been framed as “just another match” by some, but this derby clearly meant more. History returned to the Parc des Princes, and PSG made sure it stayed written in their favor.
