Blizzard Fury Slams New England Coast as Nor’easter Triggers Flood Fears
A powerful nor’easter is now hammering the New England coastline, unleashing blinding snow, fierce winds and rising concerns about coastal flooding as communities brace for hours of punishing conditions.

Travel on major routes like Interstate 95 and Route 101 has become dangerous, with drivers reporting that they can only see a short distance ahead. Across Massachusetts, the storm’s reach is even broader. A blizzard warning is in effect across eastern and central parts of the state and a state of emergency has been declared. Forecasters warn that some communities could see snowfall totals approaching two feet, with wind gusts exceeding 50 miles per hour. Power outages are possible and additional coastal flooding cannot be ruled out.
The most intense snowfall is expected to continue through the day before gradually tapering off later tonight. But cleanup will take time. Schools are closing, public transportation is being disrupted and emergency management teams remain on high alert.
