Scott Speedman, known for his role on “Grey’s Anatomy,” leads a cast that also includes Jaina Lee Ortiz as Emilia “Emi” Ochoa, Kevin Rankin, Adelaide Clemens and Bevin Bru. Production for the series took place in Wilmington, North Carolina, with on-location shoots at Carolina Beach and Fort Fisher. Despite some weather delays, Speedman has praised the setting, noting both its scenic charm and the unique energy it brings to the show.
“RJ Decker” draws inspiration from Carl Hiaasen’s novel “Double Whammy,” which means fans can expect the same dark humor and satirical edge that Hiaasen’s work is known for. Executive producers Rob Doherty, Carl Hiaasen, Carl Beverly and Sarah Timberman are all deeply involved, giving the series a strong creative backbone. For Speedman, this role represents a new chapter, balancing his ongoing work on “Grey’s Anatomy” while embracing a lead role in a fast-paced crime drama.
