No New SNL Tonight—Here’s When the Show Finally Returns
Saturday Night Live fans pressing refresh tonight are in for a surprise, there is no new episode airing this week. NBC has officially paused new episodes of Saturday Night Live as the network continues its full-scale coverage of the Winter Olympics and that means Studio 8H is going dark for now.
It has been three weeks since the last original episode aired on January 31, hosted by Alexander Skarsgård and viewers have been wondering when the sketch comedy powerhouse will return. The break is not unusual. Every Olympic cycle, network programming shifts to make room for wall-to-wall sports coverage and this year is no different. With the 2026 Winter Games drawing global attention, prime late-night real estate has been temporarily handed over to Olympic events.

But here is the key update. Saturday Night Live returns on February 28 with a brand-new episode and a first-time host. Rising star Connor Storrie, known for his breakout role in the hockey romance series Heated Rivalry, will make his hosting debut. Joining him as musical guest will be Mumford & Sons, returning to the SNL stage for the fourth time, just as they release new music. That episode marks the official restart of the show’s spring run.
And the momentum will not stop there. Ryan Gosling is set to return as host on March 7, continuing what has already been a busy and high-profile season. Another new episode is confirmed for March 14, although the host and musical guest for that night have yet to be announced.
For longtime viewers, this midseason pause highlights something important. Saturday Night Live remains tightly woven into NBC’s broader programming strategy. When major global events like the Olympics take center stage, even television’s most iconic late-night institution makes room. But the break also builds anticipation. With weeks of political headlines, pop culture moments and Olympic storylines unfolding, the writers will have plenty of fresh material when the curtain rises again.
For those who cannot wait, past sketches and full episodes are streaming on Peacock, offering access to decades of comedy history while the live broadcasts are on hold.
The countdown is now on for February 28, when Saturday Night Live returns with new energy and new headlines to tackle. Stay with us for continued updates on the upcoming hosts, musical performances and everything shaping this season of late-night television.
