FritzBox Update Fixes Annoying Wi-Fi Glitch Across 9 Routers
A significant update is rolling out for multiple FritzBox routers, promising to resolve a persistent problem that has frustrated users for months. The Berlin-based company, formerly known as AVM, has released a beta version of FritzOS 8.24, targeting nine router models. This move comes as part of Fritz’s ongoing commitment to improving connectivity, performance and system stability.
The update directly addresses issues with Wi-Fi upload speeds and a misreporting bug in the online monitor. Many users had noticed their routers showing inactive connections even when devices were online, creating confusion and complicating network management. With this beta firmware, these glitches should be corrected, restoring both accurate monitoring and full bandwidth performance.
Beyond fixing bugs, Fritz is preparing its devices for the final release of FritzOS 8.24. This includes adjustments to mobile data counters and other minor improvements that enhance system stability. Users of popular models, including the 5690, 7690, 7590 AX, 7590, 7530 AX, 7530, 4690, 4060 and 4050, can access the update through the Fritz laboratory website and install it via the router interface. A backup of current settings is recommended, as this is a beta release and minor errors could still occur.

The update also brings new features for smarter home networking. Smart-home routines can now be triggered by phone calls, target temperatures, or specific heating modes, integrating seamlessly into daily life. The update extends to the FritzNAS system, allowing users to share folders via link, improving collaboration and file management.
Meanwhile, Fritz is expanding its hardware lineup. The new FritzRepeater 6700 Pro, designed for maximum Wi-Fi coverage, supports four frequency bands and up to Wi-Fi 7 speeds, ideal for large homes or environments with many connected devices. The FritzBox 6835 5G introduces a mobile 5G router with USB-C power options, offering high-speed connections for flexible setups. Even compact solutions like the FritzSmart Thermo 303 for heating control and the 6825 4G LTE router now provide users with more versatile, energy-efficient and reliable connectivity.
For households that rely heavily on consistent internet performance and smart-home integration, these updates are more than convenience—they’re critical for stability and security. Slow uploads, misreported connections and network interruptions can hinder work, entertainment and home automation, making this release an important step for many users.
