Greg James Begins Epic 1,000km Tandem Ride Across the UK for Comic Relief
A massive endurance challenge is now underway in the United Kingdom and it’s turning roads across the country into a moving wave of support, emotion and determination.
BBC Radio 1 presenter Greg James has set off on what could be the toughest journey of his career, attempting to cycle an incredible 1,000 kilometers across the UK on a tandem bicycle. The challenge began on the south coast in Weymouth and will stretch all the way to Edinburgh in Scotland, a journey expected to take eight gruelling days. And the reason behind it is bigger than the ride itself. Every pedal stroke is aimed at raising money for Comic Relief, the charity known for funding projects that fight poverty and hardship both in the UK and around the world.
From the very first miles, the ride has already shown how powerful public support can be. As Greg pushed through steep hills outside Weymouth, crowds began appearing along the roadside. This is not Greg James’ first fundraising endurance effort, but it may be his most ambitious yet.
