Ex-Turnstile Guitarist Brady Ebert Charged in Shocking Attempted Murder Case
A former member of one of hardcore music’s most influential modern bands is now at the center of a deeply disturbing criminal case that has stunned both fans and the wider music community.
Brady Ebert, once a founding guitarist of the Baltimore-based band Turnstile, is facing serious charges including attempted second-degree murder and first-degree assault. Authorities allege that Ebert deliberately used his vehicle as a weapon in an incident that left a 79-year-old man severely injured outside his home in Silver Spring, Maryland.
The victim, William Yates, is the father of Turnstile’s lead singer Brendan Yates. According to investigators, the confrontation escalated after a history of reported tensions between Ebert and members of the Yates family. Police say Ebert first arrived at the property, shouting and acting aggressively, before leaving and returning again. It was during this second encounter that he allegedly struck William Yates with his car.
Officials report that the impact caused severe trauma to the man’s legs, including a serious fracture that required urgent medical treatment. Surveillance footage and witness accounts are said to show a fast-moving sequence of events, including attempts to avoid the vehicle before the collision occurred.

After the incident, Ebert was taken into custody and later ordered to be held without bond. This case has also reopened attention on Ebert’s past relationship with Turnstile. He was removed from the band in 2022 after what the group previously described as a “pattern of harmful behavior and escalating threats.” Since then, tensions between Ebert and former band members reportedly continued to surface publicly.
